BHP Inc. Modular Continuous Contact Motion Picture Film Printers

Designed to maximize print quality, negative safety and production efficiency, BHP Printers can benefit motion picture laboratories of all sizes.

These dry-only, high-speed film printers are based on the BHP workhorses of the film industry.

New BHP Model 7700ED Features:

  • A 25% Increase In maximum speed to 1200 ft/mm (21,500 m/hour).
  • To reduce the reliance on outdated and vulnerable computer paper tape, the new 7700 models will also be network compatible, to allow scene data files from all the major film color grading equipments to be downloaded directly from a server or PC.
  • Maintenance costs are reduced by several accessibility improvements, including a diagnostic port, tension calibration from the front of the machine, internal electrical outlets and lighting, and easier rear access.

New BHP Model 7700RD, The Wet/Dry model, the 4000ft (915 m) capacity film printer is available with all of the new features described for the dry only models, but has several attractive features in the wet printing mode:

  • New fitted film drying air knives, using sister company Lipsner Smith’s renowned technology, ensuring reliable drying at much higher speeds than previously possible. Poor film drying can be a major source of financial losses for a typical commercial laboratory or archive and the new design will eliminate many reprints and raw stock losses.
  • New fluid control design and bubble trap reduces aeration and therefore “bubble” problems, the cause of many re-print demands from clients. Includes slotted rollers, and a new seal system, which will also provide better bubble performance.
  • Advanced system greatly reduces air exhaust noise.
  • Wet picture gate now features a glass porthole.
  • New wet head door Interlock system to prevent accidental spills. Safety Is further enhanced with a liquid and vapor evacuation device, to prevent operator exposure to vapors.
  • The film path has been modified to reduce acute wrap angles, which provides even safer handling of delicate or damaged film archive material.
